UTAS Book Review: The Moose That Roared

Hot off the presses comes the latest in the late Andrew Bennett’s comprehensive history of the U’s “The Moose That Roared“. This edition covers the period from 1980 to 1992, so features not only some of our most successful years in the second division during the early 80s, but some of the most dire too in the dreadful Ryan & Shellito regime that followed, before our meteoric rise back to (almost) the top under John Beck and the FA Cup runs and play-off appearances that made this era oh-so exciting. John Taylor lends a foreword, and as with the other books in the Celery & Coconuts series it’s beautifully written, expertly-researched and contains a number of fantastic (and previously unseen) images as well as all the stats you could shake a stick at.

At £23 it’s not cheap, but weighing in at the best part of a kilo and consisting of almost 400 pages we’d say it’s worth it’s weight in Amber.
