A clean sheet for United was the highlight in a solid, if unimpressive 0-0 draw at Priestfield. Callum Burton played the full 90 in goal, and the line up is starting to give a few more clues towards Bonner’s starting eleven.
Wes Hoolahan was absent, but Tom Knowles put in a good performance on the right of midfield, with Hannant on the left and Digby and Liam O’Neil in the middle of the park.
Paul Mullin had a number of chances but couldn’t find the net whilst playing alongside Joe Ironside before they were replaced by the more familiar front two of Knibbs and Dallas for the last fifteen minutes.
Burton made a few good saves, and will be pleased with the clean sheet, and youngsters Dickens, Lewis Simper, Worman and Joe Neal also got a run out.
Whilst the clean sheet was a positive against League One opposition the squad still looks worryingly short of depth, and a few key signings away from being a side that will challenge towards the top of League Two. That said, we seemed like a cohesive unit, and it’s always good to see youngsters in and around the first team picture, so let’s hope the club are able to find the additions that will enable us to crack on.
United: Burton, Knoyle, Taylor (Dickens), Darling, Dunk (Worman), Knowles (Neal), O’Neil (Simper), Digby, Hannant (Iredale), Ironside (Dallas), Mullin (Knibbs)
