United make their first signing of the transfer window, moving to bring in defender Jubril Okedina from Tottenham.
20 year old Okedina is yet to make an appearance for the Spurs first team, but arrives at the Abbey on the back of signing a contract extension at whatever they’re calling the new White Hart Lane these days.
Predominantly a right back, he can also play at centre back, so his arrival gives Bonner some options – either as a backup for Darling/Taylor in the middle, or more likely allowing Kyle Knoyle to play higher up the field on the right, allowing Luke Hannant a rest or to move to a more central position. It remains to be seen how we use him, but it’s telling that Spurs have allowed him to come here on loan, clearly they were impressed with how we handled Jack Roles last season. A closer link between the two clubs can’t be a bad thing.
Bonner has stated that United are close to sealing a move for Hiram Boateng who impressed on loan here earlier this season before returning to MK Dons with a shoulder injury. We probably shouldn’t expect too much more business after that, although some players may be allowed to leave on loan.
