Dion Dublin needs no introduction really. A bona-fide United legend from the John Beck era, play-off final winner, our first million pound transfer (just where did that money go?), Premier League Golden Boot winner, England International and nationally loved TV presenter and pundit, Dion is still remembered with joy by U’s fans for his goalscoring exploits as United cruised up the leagues and reached two FA Cup quarter-finals in the early 1990’s. Younger fans will remember him from his time at Coventry, Aston Villa, Millwall, Norwich and Celtic, or for his presenting skills on Homes Under The Hammer.

Dion returns to the Abbey today to join the clubs board, bringing a wealth of knowledge about the game, as well as his connections forged as one of the English games best strikers – criminally left out of the 1998 World Cup squad, Dublin scored goals wherever he went, and famously headbutted Robbie Savage, for which he was awarded an MBE*.
Dublin stated he was honoured to be joining the board of the club where he made his name, and expects to play an active role, despite his TV commitments. We think he’s a great addition to the club, both from a footballing perspective as well as a PR one.
*Sadly this is untrue, but he should have been in our eyes.
