Okedina’s Back!

Fan favourite Jubril Okedina returns to the Abbey Stadium on a 2 year permanent deal from Tottenham Hotspur.

Okedina initially joined the U’s on loan in January, after captaining Spurs U23 squad. He quickly became a regular starter in the U’s defence as we gained promotion from League Two, and showed his class despite a few difficult tests. He can play in the centre of defence or at right back, and adds cover and competition to the defence in an area where we had looked a bit light.

At only 20 years old, Okedina is definitely one for the future, and to pay a fee for such a highly regarded player from a Premier League side shows great ambition from Bonner and the board.

Okedina’s signing came after the addition of goalkeeper Will Mannion who joined from Paphos FC in Cyprus after previously coming through the ranks at Hull City and probably completes the U’s business for the summer.
