Ibsen Rossi Signs, Summer Business Complete?

Despite BBC Radio Cambs announcing (then swiftly deleting their tweet) the signing on Friday afternoon, it was finally confirmed yesterday that United had signed highly-rated Bournemouth centre back Zeno Ibsen Rossi.

A 6ft 4in tall defender, Ibsen Rossi made four appearances in the Championship last season as Bournemouth were promoted to the Premier League. He also has Scottish Premiership experience with Kilmarnock and Dundee United despite being just 21 years of age. Judging by the comments under Bournemouth’s tweet confirming his departure it seems some Bournemouth fans are unhappy with his departure, considering Ibsen Rossi as quite a hot prospect.

Quite how much he’s going to play remains to be seen, with Bonner seemingly spoilt for choice at centre back with Jubril Okedina and Lloyd Jones having played together for a large part of last season, and club captain Greg Taylor returning from long-term injury. We expect Jones & Okedina to still be first choice, with Greg bought in when his experience is deemed necessary. There seems to be a real desire from Bonner to rely less on the loan market this season, and the squad looks to have taken shape nicely with a number of young players looking to play a part in the upcoming campaign.

Ibsen Rossi becomes our fourth summer signing, joining four-foot tall left back Brandon Haunstrup, former Bristol City forward Saikou Janneh and ex-Reading ‘keeper James Holden at the Abbey over the summer.

United take on Norwich City at the Abbey tonight in a friendly game starting at 8pm.
